The ACTEX Study Guide for CAS Exam 9:

  • Reflects the 2026 syllabus, including all published errata and recent structural changes to the upper-level exams
  • Contains outlines and summaries of all required syllabus readings
  • Includes relevant questions and solutions from past CAS exams (through the 2019 exam), revised where appropriate to reflect current syllabus material
(Note that the CAS no longer provides questions and solutions beginning with the 2020 exams.)
  • Retains selected questions from readings that have since been removed from the syllabus when they remain relevant to current material
  • Includes additional original questions written by the author to reinforce key concepts
  • Contains a dedicated section of integrated, multi-reading questions modeled after the style of the 2018 and 2019 exams
  • Clearly identifies exam questions using the CAS numbering convention (year–exam–question–points), with indicators for author-added and modified questions
  • Organizes questions and solutions by reading and topic, with page references where applicable, to support efficient and structured review
  • Includes selected material reproduced with permission from the Casualty Actuarial Society to assist candidates in exam preparation

This Study Guide is intended to supplement the original source readings and is not a substitute for them. While every effort has been made to ensure accuracy and clarity, students are encouraged to consult official CAS materials and report any errors for correction.
