The manual is fantastic; it makes it very easy to understand the content. It goes into great detail and is easy to follow along with. The addition of flashcards is nice because I am noticing a struggle, especially in FM, with remembering some key terms/formulas. I do like the "Help Me Start" tab at the bottom of questions so I don't see the whole solution if I am stuck. Also, the icons at the top to learn more on the topic, flag, etc., are extremely helpful.
This is my 2nd Actex manual. The author, Dinius, is different (Broverman), but the quality is just as high. I'll buy Actex again. I like how you get everything with it and how it works on the learning portal. Keyword search is just that - key. The videos are easy to follow. I've watched nearly all of them. They help immensely on the hardest topics. My goal score is 72, but I'm shooting for higher. I've got more time before the exam. Good luck to my fellow students!
Bought the six month license and worked it hard. It's concise and complete. Worth it.
Got the printed manual, thinking I might fail. I passed easily, 9!!!!! Passing this on to a friend.
Most people say FM is easier than P. I'm not finding that. And… glad I have the lecture videos to go with the manual. The manual is very thorough and methodical, but I just like watching a video BEFORE reading the manual. Sets it up better for me. That's my study tip for ya!
I totally overpaid for my exam P prep. Use ACTX folks! I passed FM using ACTEX and it's complete with an excellent study manual, topic videos and Goal. Liked the formula sheet too, but the way you can easily pull up a definition and move to other parts of the software was really cool.

Passed P with ACTEX and then bought FM. This was totally different. The new ACTEX manuals have a new learning platform that's pretty awesome. I liked having Goal and the videos before, and they really do seem to be free with the study manual. There's no catch. All the videos you need and GOAL is a near perfect way to practice exam questions. But now, it's on an Actuarial University platform that connects all the products based on keyword. There's basically a million ways to use the tool and study the material.
The author has done a pretty amazing job. The Actuarial University eLearning site is super cool. Search by topic functionality is great and everything is linked by keyword-- my manual, GOAL, the videos. I can't think of any improvements - overall, it's nearly perfect.
Sitting for FM next month and nervous (always), but I'm basically ready. Goal Score of 80 and just want to work through a few more practice exams. The program is super complete and not as expensive as most. Will use Actex again.
The study guide is comprehensive. I used Goal too, but the combined material is so extensive, that the key is to study using the guide, Goal or whatever seems best at that time during the process. I used Goal more for timed quizzes than anything else. And Goal Score is key; love that feature.
The actex program is very good, very helpful. I received a pass notification from soa! But why are all these materials so expensive? And Actes is less money than all the other companies.

Really well written manual. The best thing in my mind though are the videos. Great instructors, right on point. The manual isn't really enough, imo - the videos definitely walk you thru in in a different way with different instructors. GOAL Score definitely is a confidence booster as you progress. My score fell 3 points early on as I struggled but after that I kept it climbing. I like how the quizzes give you the option to not count it toward your goal score. I used that a lot since I didn't want to penalize myself as I learned new concepts.
I passed P and FM using actex. The first time I just used an actex P manual that a friend gave me and it was enough. This time I didn't have that option so I bought the actex FM study program - yeah much better way to go; sooo manhy more resources; luv'd the videos, for example. I'd seen goal before, but I didn't have it. It's perfect practice tool with complete exams, timer, solutions. The goal score was accurate for me. Passed FM with a 71 goal score.
